How it works

FreshLedger Pro stores each company's books in a single SQLite file. When tax season hits, your client emails you the file (or shares it through any file-share they like — Dropbox, Drive, email, USB). You open it in the Accountant Edition, which is a separate, free download.

The Accountant Edition can:

• Open client packages and run full reports (P&L, Balance Sheet, Trial Balance, General Ledger, Account Detail, Sales Tax Liability, Payroll Summary, etc.)
• Post adjusting journal entries flagged as accountant entries
• Reclassify transactions in bulk
• Reconcile prior periods
• Export corrections back to the client as a small adjustments file they import in one click
• Generate year-end depreciation schedules and post the year's depreciation expense

What you cannot do in Accountant Edition

Edit the client's customers/vendors/items list. Run their payroll. Process their day-to-day transactions. Those stay in the client's copy — the Accountant Edition is for review and adjustment, not operational bookkeeping.

How CPAs already use it

The typical pattern: the client closes the year, sends you the file, you spend a couple hours on adjusting entries (depreciation, accruals, owner draws, reclassifications), export the adjustments file, email it back. They double-click the adjustments file, FreshLedger applies the entries, the books are closed. No portal logins, no proprietary cloud, no per-client subscription tax on you.

Compared to QuickBooks Accountant Desktop

QuickBooks Accountant Desktop is an annual paid product. The Accountant Edition for FreshLedger is free, always. Your overhead per client is $0.
